hi,i was wondering if there are and std's that can be transferred from dogs to humans. I had unprotected anal sex with my dog and now i have developed a painful rash on my scrotum, i was just wondering if this is coincidence? or could it be something more dangerous. ANY help would be greatly appreciated seeing as i do not want to see a doctor about this if i dont have to, thanks in advance

Brucellosis is the main thing that can be transfered from animals to humans, but parasites, such as worms, fleas, tics, etc. can also to transmitted. I've also heard that yeast infections can be passed from human to animal and animal to human. Other then that, there's not really anything unless an infected human recently had sex with the same animal. And yes, anal sex is "dirty", in the bacterial sense, however you go about it.Rashes can also be an allergic reaction too, amung other things. Some other causes:• Dermatitis• Infection (fungal or bacterial)• Excessive heat • Chaffing

Well if you are talking specifically about STDs then, no there are none. Some of the many other zoonotics you see bantered around here, are not transmitted solely by sexual contact. Though I would none the less always be cautious about "hot swapping" animals. While animals themselves cannot catch any of our STDs, they may for very short periods serve as a carrier or conduit for passing an STD from one human to another that has very recently shared the same animal partner.

As above you are more likely to have a yeast infection or something or other unless you went in anally without any protection then there is a wide verity of bacteria that you could come into contact with, most are not very pleasant. Also it is a safe rule never to share your lover, cleanliness is your main concern for both of you. If the rash persists you could always say you got it from a toilet seat when you see your doctor.

There is a good section on health issues of bestiality on wikipedia, just search for zoophilia on wikipedia.

I must add although specific STDs don't come to mind...Dogs can carry many zoonotic diseases, however the ones that affect humans are the ones responsible dog owners vaccinate for... Rabies, Leptospirosis, etc. Talk to your veterinarian, tell her/him simply you are concerned about zoonotic diseases (say you have young children or visiting nieces/nephews if you wish) and you want to vaccinate for as many of these as possible.

I was wondering if it's just on the scrotum... then i'd say it was probably a contact dermatitis... maybe allergy to the saliva or maybe the fur.... maybe if the animal is on some form of flea or tick preventative... you could always just try a little yeast cream and triple antibiotic cream for a few days and see if it clears up any...but just my 2 cents worth.... I know I'm severly allergic to cat saliva.... talking full blown take me to the E.R. allergy...If it's just in that one small area and not spreading... contact derm would be my first guess... maybe allergy to fleas or saliva from the animal licking itself... but then i'm not a vet or a doc as for the rest... i don't think the STD's can be passed..... but then again... mother nature does some funny stuff..... look at the bird flu that's going around.... or bubonic plague, or the huanta? virus.not sure ... i slept through immunology 101.....
