Sad news beasts: My exroommate will be taking my friend with him next week to his new place. I've trained this Pittie for the last two years and he's been happy, eager and loyal in his play. Looks like it's time to start shopping for a new friend...I'd love to hear from fellow beast fans with extensive experience what breed or mix was the most compatible for play as well as companionship. I have a bitch at home and she'll want a new friend too. Thanks for the suggestions!Racer

*g* Sounds like a nice mix, hehe. Looking forward to a pictures of her!Well i can allways recomend labs or goldies. They are friendly, loyal, easy to train and to handle. And if you rais him properly (im pretty sure you will) he can get along with your lady very well. My dog is labrador/brackemix and hes a gigolo (sp?) when he meets bitches, none of them can restist him And hes a wonderfull dog, a very good friend - i love him so much - and i hope some day a good lover too.

Ask your exroommate if he really wants to keep her, and that you'd be more then happy to take her off his hands and take care of her, since she is uses to the house and area and all, she could stay and be happy there instead of moving ?

I had an Australian Shepherd female that was the sweetest, most loving dog you've ever seen. I miss her.

Labradors, but only because that's the breed I have most experience with. They are definitely very playful dogs.

Hehe, loosk sweet Theres a dog around my neighbourhood who looks almost exactly like her... But i have no idea what breeds might be mixed in her...Maybe a yellow lab and a shephard or something, because of the furcolor and her bodyshape...

Well like HairBear said mixes are allways great! I met alot of very beautifull mixes in my life - like my own dog - and many of them were nicer, cutern and smarter then many purebreeds i know...Allthough i like labs and husky and such i would prefer a mix of one of them... Like a nice husky/gsdmix or a lab/rottiemix or even a lab/huskymix - i've seen one and he looked great!

So... it seems the key is finding a dog that is playful and active. But then, I presume there are some who think of size first. I'm surprised that didn't come up at all in the responses. I guess that shows what counts?
