Article link: http://www.wzzm13.com/news/watercooler/wat...x?storyid=50703QUOTE A Battle Creek man charged with having sex with a sheep has been sentenced to prison.Jeffrey S. Haynes, 42, was sentenced to 30 months to 20 years in prison for sodomy. Haynes pleaded no contest in January to the charge."This whole incident defies description, justification, or excuse, whatsoever," Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge Conrad Sindt said during the sentencing hearing Monday.Haynes was charged after police said he assaulted the sheep in Bedford Township on Jan. 26, 2005.The owner of the animal caught Haynes on the property and found one of the sheep had been injured. He was charged after police sent a DNA sample from the sheep to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab. He was arrested in June.Haynes told Sindt, "I take full responsibility for what I did wrong. I am sorry for what I did. But I am not a child molester and would never touch a child."Assistant Prosecutor Tamara Towns argued that while the crime was not against a person, Haynes should be ordered to register as a sex offender because it's possible that once out of prison he would prey on children or vulnerable adults."He is a predator," Towns said. But Haynes said he is not a violent person and would not assault children."The prosecutor is being real hard on me for what I did," he said. "But I should not be treated as a child molester."Haynes has prior convictions for burglary, home invasion and uttering and publishing and was on parole for burglary at the time of the alleged crime.Sindt said once he is released from prison Haynes must register on the state's sex offenders list."This act is so representative of someone who is sexually perverted that I will order he register on the sex offender list," Sindt said. It is sad that the sheep, in this case was injured. Just what we need, another person giving the ones of us who love our animals a bad name.

I think it should be in the zoo category - but glad you posted it here - that way when I move it a link in general will still draw attention to the thread...this is an important post -we may never find out if he harmed this sheep accidentally or out of recklessness - but I would think he was being quite reckless in that he was caught - wether you favor fence hopping or not - this is what can happen when you dont take ever single precaution to guard your privacy... and this is what will happen if you get caught...members no what your doing -and where you are doing it - a busted nut is not worth the consequences - be careful!

What a moron. Doesn't he know that if you want to mate with an animal, you should remember two things:#1. Do it in a place where you know you won't have an audience.#2. If you're gonna screw an animal, SCREW YOUR OWN! Thank you.

"This act is so representative of someone who is sexually perverted"I tkink this is not an acceptable idea.... This man should notimpose us his view of what sexality should be !There is not ONE good sexuality but a wide variety of sexualities !

Is there some sort of study to back that premise up? Id like to see it if there is.why not have everyone who engages is BDSM file for the sex offender list?

I, too, am bothered by how readily people lump EVERYONE who has sex with animals in the same category as child molesors. I think it's partially due to the fact that they are so ignorant to anything that is different to the norm that if they see it as perverted then it automatically must be wrong and therefore harmful, and children would be the next step in their minds. If anything they're the perverted ones for thinking that.

Two things here, 1: I'm going to venture a guess here,, but the injury claim, made have been made, just to give the general public, a worse impression, of the events. Remember, they are going to make the situation look as bad as they can, to get as much negative hostiles, towards us, as they can muster up. It's part of the agenda, to continue to show us, as the "bad guys". 2: They connect us to other heinous crimes, again, to get the ignorant public to believe, that who we are, is wrong and evil. They have used that same ploy, against the gay community, many a time, yet, there is NO evidence, to support it. Cow_Poke

that actually, could be entirely true CowPoke. Chances are he got caught in the act, and I would say the guy made up the part about the sheep being injured. I mean who makes the connection between finding a sheep bleeding from where he/she shouldnt be (who looks besides zoos) and a random guy they found on thier property? Not many unless you know yourself.

oh and in response to horseybuttsdrivemenuts is the apparent repulsion and attraction to sexually based crimes towards minors.personally, the show Law and Order SVU creeps me out. Mostley it has to do with underage children being victims of violent sexual crimes. Its a very disturbing topic, but "juicy" to a surprising amoutn of people (look at the ratings!) and does very well. Personally, I feel dirty to watch it, and i dont know who could possibly stomach it. I think in a way, society has a very perverted attraction to those sorts of things. Thats why its so frustrating when they call us degenerates, for doing something that is consentual and natural at the same time, meanwhile watching uncles violate thier nieces on television and deriving entertainment value out of it.

i think you have to take into consideration the man's pattern of behavior. getting caught having sex with a sheep is the latest in a long list of crimes, all of which involve complete disregard for other people's property. there was a B&E listed and what looked like a reference to either uttering threats or slander (written and spoken), all of which are signs of someone who is primarily concerned with his own interests, placing them before others. Just because many people at BeastForum are kind and considerate people doesn't mean that all people who choose to engage in bestiality are the same way. Lots of people engage in sex, but they don't all do it for the right reasons. that said... now anyone else who gets caught will get a heavier penalty, especially in the city/country/state where this crime took place.

Yes, but what I think is causing the outrage you're seeing here is the fact that both the prosecutor and the judge are lumping this man in with child molesters simply because he had sex with a sheep. No one is saying he's a good guy. But should he be classified as a sex offender? No. There is nothing in his prior criminal history that suggests he should.

Yes in this case he is a three time looser. When you go fence hopping you always take a big risk of getting caught. The report said the the sheep was injured? how and where was it injured are my first thoughts. As he was charged with sodomy, was it a lamb or a fully grown sheep male or female? No one has the right to injure and animal just to get their rocks off. As for the judge I think that without any proof to the contary he has let his feelings and private thoughts show in his statment that the man is to be place on the sexual perdator list as he might attack children. Also is the prosecutor and other council officals up for re election and putting on a good show for people. Did, he injure the sheep, or is it just all hype for the press. It is a good storie that sell news papers or gets people to watch the news. Yes I agree with that statment that once there is a precedence then it is writen in stone and used by every zelot to crucify anybody that does not conform to their narrow way of thinking. ie If you were gay, zoo, bondage or into free love you are a deviate of the lowest order. In olden times the indervidual was a dunked, place in the stocks, and or tortured until they confessed that they were possed by the devil. Their punishment varied from burned at the stake, garrotted or being hanged after watching the animal suffer the same fate. But now we are civilized we take the person to court, publish the expanded hyperthectal facts even before the trial. The victim has no rights in the eyes of the free press. ITheir reputaion is ruined their standing in the comunnity is always subject to what was implyed in the press.

ITheir reputaion is ruined their standing in the comunnity is always subject to what was implyed in the press. well, to be fair, the man was sentenced, not only accused. there are pretty strict laws in place about accusing someone of a crime before they are convicted. the media has to be really careful when dealing with criminal matters, because any mis-step can cause the media outlet to be sued or worse, cause the case to be thrown out of court. i don't think this guy represents the zoo community. he seems to be an anomaly. he represents zoo in the way that a rapist represents sexuality. sure the motions are there, but the incentive for the act is completely different. it's not that zoo's are the same as child molestors, but anyone who would have sex with an injured animal is a predator. whether he injured the animal or the animal was injured when he got there doesn't change the morality of the act. if your dog was injured (say he had a broken leg) would you persue sexual activity with him? Probably not, especially if it caused him/her discomfort. everything about this case sets off alarms. there seems to be too many unanswered questions, but too much character evidence against the guy to find much good to say about him. if i was organizing a news cast, this story would never have made the paper/airwaves. too many questions still to be asked.

I think that sometimes what we see here may very well drive someone to do what this man has done. You read the stories here, you see all the pictures and movies. Why wouldn't this act come out? For one that would be reckless? Yes I agree that sex with an animal should be in the highest of precaution and certainly in an act that doesn't involve pain. Maybe the animal had been injured prior. I am clumsy. Why not a sheep being so? But that's not the point!Maybe if people could share animals a bit more than now, which is probably a very slim, slim, SLIM margin, maybe these rapes wouldn't happen. I know it's not the first nor the last we'll read or hear about. Animal sharing should be at least considered. But try to knock down that barrier.

I would notThre is more in animal sharing like that. Sound slike you never had the responsibility of an animal. Minds change when you have tried that. The responsibility, not something else. When you bring u an animal , stay awake at nicght wehen thre is some problem, change you life to be able to keep those animals, pay vet. tax, food, insurances, train the animal, daily care and so on, you are done with those who would so very much want to come by for half an hour of fun, having seen rape movies with things they now want to check out en real life. You wuld not alow that either, if you had the responsibility of an animal. That is why animal sharing hardly never will come to work. Maybe there are people around that are willing to accept some sort of participation in the animal's lfe they want a share in. The fella in this case is certainly not one of them, he would have turned out to become a problem sooner or later anyway.

being new here, I haven't found the "fence hopping" thread yet, but just from common sense would never do such, I was raised better than that. Growing up gay is enough stigma, add to that certain less than mainstream affinities such as leather, latex, bondage, etc, then coming out as bi after being exclusively gay for a number of years then a few years later still, realizing zoo fits in the mix somewhere as well and has for a while even though I have very little experience.I've come to the state of mind that primarily in the US, society in general has a sick and confoundingly amusing attitude toward sex, and we have the Puritans among others to thank for it. Anyone familiar with sex ed in the schools? "don't tell the kids so they don't get ideas." Anyone familiar with advertising? "sex sells." Anyone know a NIMBY(not in my back yard)? they're the first to complain about anything, but my specific reference is adult bookstores, they decry the appearance of new ones "too close to schools/churches" but never address the "demand" that fuels their existence, the "supply". Anybody that isn't taught impartially about sex is going to-pardon the usage-f*** up somewhere sometime. And let's not forget about contemporary a--holes like Pat Robertson who said (as if he even knows...) that God sent Hurrican Katrina down upon New Orleans because Ellen Degeneres is gay (her hometown). And what about Jerry Falwell who likes to pick on harmless children's TV, claiming that a certain fuzzy purple character who carries an orange "magic bag" and has a triangular antenna on his head is recruiting children into the dreaded Homosexual Lifestyle. Katie Couric lost in on national morning TV news when that came over their teleprompter, and she commented something to the effect "that man needs to get a life." A certain president's re-election relied heavily although not exclusively on the promotion of an anti-gay marriage amendment to the Constitution of the United States. God forbid if Brokeback Mountain had won more Oscars, Heath for Best Actor, Jake for Best Supporting, and Best Picture, then all we'd hear about for the next month from the holier-than-thou crackpot Republicans is the Gay Agenda in Hollywood and how it's sending us to hell in a handbasket.Any more, the terms "child molester" and "sex offender" have become social scapegoats in this day and age, eliciting conformity through shame. Gays are not child molesters. All priests are not sex offenders. child molesters and sex offenders have f***** up attitudes about sex and most of them are straight males. A priest friend of mine explained some of the details to me during the big brouhaha in the Catholic Church a few years ago, age and consent make a big difference if one can get past the hysteria and see the details. and I am not saying sex with kids is totally OK either even though there are those that do, but is a "sex offender" who raped his brother's 4 year old girl the same as a "sex offender" who got caught wagging his weinie in public restroom? What about the high school coach or gym teacher who let a massage go a bit too far or may have been egged on by said 17 year old high school student with raging hormones, is the coach a deviant "child molester?"Pardon my rambling but it's a bit of a sore spot. Anybody who's into non-procreational, non-missionary position sex with the lights on needs to be sure of CONSENT of the participants and LOCATION of activity, don't let any of the misguided religeous zealots find out. Thanks for listening...Larry, HardforFur
