This is something I do not believe that has been discussed on Beast Forum thoroughly enough. Breed Specific Legislation. Pit Bulls are unfortunately the #1 breed affected by BSL and after you watch this video tell me what you think http://www.pitbullproblem.tk/ , http://www.sirens-grotto.com/outcast.wmv , http://www.sirens-grotto.com/pitbull.wmv , http://www.sorryagain.com/, http://www.sirens-grotto.com/francis.wmv ! Please also visit this site and educate yourself on http://www.understand-a-bull.com/ ! I'm not asking for anyone to like Pit Bulls or for them to not still believe what you want. I just want people to stop accusing innocent dogs for what the irresponsible people are doing! We need to protect our rights as pet owners. I want everyone to consider this. What happens when all the legislaters and law makers ban Pit Bulls and similar breeds and everyone that was abusing this breed moves to another and it is banned? Eventually dogs will be banned and then what's next ? Cats, horses, goats, GOLDFISH! This is a very serious issue that should be addressed. I am currently writing a comprehensive paper on Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and all of the breeds that have been deemed vicious or dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have it on this site!

I have certain feelings of intrepidation about pitbulls which have been generated by press reports of various attacks on people...including children.However...anyone with an ounce of intelligence must realise certain instictive traits in some breeds are enhanced by human intervention for purely 'monetary' motives. You cannot simply blame the animal!Does one generally ban roosters simply because in some places they are bred and raised purely for fighting?I abhorr all forms of this so-called 'sport'. (together with 'Bullfighting')In the past, I have had the privelage of sharing my family life with 2 beautiful Rottweilers.I was a member of the 'Victorian Rottweiller Association' and put my dogs through obedience training, socialized them as much as possible and found them both to be big gentle, affectionate 'sooks'.I see no reason to believe that pitbulls, if from day one as a puppy, are treated with love & affection, socialized, and basic 'obedience' trained, would be any different! As is mostly the case...I lay the blame squarely at the feet of man himself!I wanted to see these clips, but unfortunately could not. The first didn't open and the second and third took so long to 'buffer', I couldn't hang around to wait. I'm sure they were most informative.

They were very informative and very sad and they did represent your Rottweiler which is also a breed I love! And unfortunately they are the second most legislated and feared breed in the world. I was looking at some information last night and it was about a dog bite incident that was reported as a pitbull but the picture on the news website showed that it was a Rottweiler and it said within the week after the incident that it was infact a Rottweiler but that the media *ssholes and reporters are linked up with police scanners and anytime they heard "pit Bull" they were on the scene but if it was a golden retriever it was considered breed discrimination!!!! They also said that whether it be a Rottweiler or Pit Bull that they both were the same! I don't know about you but that is some of the worst discrimination I have ever heard!

QUOTE (fester3156 @ Jan 6 2006, 09:45 AM) As is mostly the case...I lay the blame squarely at the feet of man himself! I have said this myself a thousand times!A lot of people get pit bulls and Rotts to intentionally turn them into dangerous ferocius attackers. These breeds have the "instinct" to fight in their genetics, but that is because humans have created their instincts for many many years. In studying the pitbull breed in particular you will discover that the genetics only go so far. The dogs were trained to fight other dogs in the pit and the handlers had to be in the pit with them as they fought. Any fighting dog that ever attacked a human was instantly put to death because they presented hazards to the handlers and referees in the fights. They tried to eliminate the "bad blood" from the gene pool in this way. The handlers had to be able to reach into the midst of the fighting dogs and break them apart without worry of personal attack.Since that time, mankind has bred them without placing these restrictions on their bloodlines. They have been bred as attackers, watchdogs, as most will call them. Man trained them to be what they are.I'm a firm believer in the statement "It's all in the way they're raised!" People should not blame the animals for being what they have been taught to be.People should blame people for making them what they are, and for giving them the reputation that they have received.

That is exactly right! Even though "Pit Bulls" were bred to fight they were handled during the fight so they could not attack the people or they would be culled. i'm glad that some people are educated

I have a girl friend who has Pit Bull (Tink) he does attack he just charges over and licks you on the hand, face, or any where else you will allow. Even during his charge you can just see the gentle nature of this animal. His tail wags and I swear he is smiling. anyway I am a firm believer that dogs are what you make them to a point, they all have thier own personalities, but none I know would ever turn to violence unless his/her life was at danger or that of another. Even then it would be almost a shock to see. The animals I know are not dangerous and try so hard to be accepted by all, their desire to fit in to the social structure is very strong. I feel animals that are used in violent situations are like guns or knifes and are just weapons used by humans to harm or kill each other. Humans are the most ruthless animal on this planet, we continue to kill more and more animals some for sport some for a new housing complex some for that all valuable oil, bottom line if it stands between animals and what we want animals loose. OOOOPs sorry I guess I got carried away again. Animal legislation is wrong, unless it is for the animal we call HUMAN.
