I read a book called "Who Ever Heard Of A Horse In The House?" written by a lady who housebroke her horse. It's a very good book especially if you love horses! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...8593258-9816951Also this website about using miniature horses as guide animals for the blind discusses and has pictures of horses in the house. It even has a picture of the horse in bed with a guy!http://www.guidehorse.com/horses_house.htmHas anyone has ever done this? It is one of my fantasies to have a horse in bed with me. Though I know they can only lay down for short periods and not all night.
Google for "Patches the horse"
Oh yeah, I posted the video of Patches here a while ago:http://www.beastforum.com/showtopic-63745.htmlI love how they have him sitting on the couch watching TV with them!
I have seen this when on vacation and I thought it very inspiring and also a most learning experience. This was not a small pony he had but fairly larger size pony girl. I thought and still think this is the way I would like to live. Why should horses be kept outside if they are as big lovers as they are to many of us?
If I had a pony or mini mare and my own house, I would definitely try to house train her. It would be the greatest thing in the world to have my own cutie always by my side. One of the most interesting things about the book "Who Ever Heard of a Horse in the House?" was that the first time the lady brought the horse in the house, somehow the horse already knew when she was supposed to go outside.
on old farm i used to have a small welsh mare that used to come in the house all of the time and stand or lay in the living room when the family was in there but she was never house broken but would most of the time go out side any way, but then stone flooors do have there advantages
I used to let my shetland into the house evey day, I do have a pic of him in the house. But my scanner is broke I don`t have him any more, a neighbour complained to the council, so I had to sell him. And before anyone asks he was a stallion.
i live on a farm far from other people, i have some miniature ponies and some big mares, i usually take on or more of them with me to the shower where the ''partying happens''...they seem to like it a lot,so yes, i do let them in my house
I know a fella in the Netherlands who has his mare in the house. She if full sized and sits on the couch. And yes, he is a zoo and very public about it. He is sort of a celebrity and pictures of his mare sitting in a chair have been in a magazine. She is a beauty too!I have another friend who sleeps with his mini. He says she does it missionary style and I believe it but he has never taken any pictures to prove it.
Those boys must have lots of time on thier hands,,, what an amazing animal...... A nutty video for sure,,,, tyby the way,, when i was growing up,, about 10 or 11, my shetland used to come in the house all the time... they were never fenced so was easy to roam,, and one day she camein and it never stopped.... I liked it LOTS

Believe me, it IS
i actually met a seeing eye horse in bangor Maine once back when i was in highschool.........
Our new mare like sot come into the house. WIll follow us right inside unless we stop her.
I had a 12 h. Shetland Pony x Welsh Gelding who used to clamber up the stairs and nap on the porch with the dogs in his old age.Sadly he crossed the rainbow bridge several years ago, at the age of 34.
I would perhaps, let horses in my house... maaaybe.. a mini much more likely as long as they're potty trained. and doesn't track dirt in..When I build my castle, the stable will be attached to it. kinda like oldfashioned, where the animals helped warm the house. Of course the manure pile will be a looooong way off. ^^

Yeah she does a good job. Just follows us inside walks around a little bit... But she is not yet 14 hands. She is only 13 months old too.
I had a fairly large pony who I brought in the house quite often. She was great....never made a mess, never made a fuss. I could only bring her in the ground floor though, cause she never managed the stairs and I never coaxed her to. We spent hours together and had alot of good "fun" I remember freakin out one morning cause she had been with me the night before when it was raining. I woke up that morning in a panic because I didn't want anyone to see the hoof prints leading right to the door and then out again. I had to run out and "erase" her hoof prints. The morning barn help was already there but I don't think they saw me doing the "erasing". I looked out and the pony was in the pasture with a little grin on her face while she ate her spring grass. I don't think she ever told a soul
If I would have a horse as a lover I definitely would want to be around it more.so I am for having a horse in the house, though there are a lot of houses not big enough for them.
I would let them in, but I would prefer them to spend most of their time outside (would probably leave the door open at all times when i was in) because they are creatures of wide open spaces and need lost of grazing and fresh air etc. If i lived ina town without any otudoor spaces i wouldnt keep one in the same manner as a dog. I often envisage a farmhouse to live in and the room by the back door converted to a stable for my stallion or jack you could have the kitchen next door separated by a half-door and talk whilst having breakfast!
if I had a horse I would let it inside and have my own little fun with it
We let are mini stallion come in the house but we have to put up the mirrors if he sees him self in the mirror he thinks it's a mare and wants her right now hehehehehe anyways we let him mount one of us so he'll calm down
