I worked at a standerd bred horse barn for a couple of years, I try gettting the geldings hard on a few occasions with no luck. I'm not an expert but I would advature to say out with the nuts and out with the sex drive. [FONT=Times][SIZE=7][SIZE=1]

By the time you pay for farriers, food, stabling, hay, fencing, unexpected vet visits and 101 other things horses are far from cost effective even if you have your own land. You don't seem to know much about them so I'd advise way, way more reading. Also horses are herd animals and will generally will be very unhappy on their own.

hey i would advise in your horse buying for you to get two young mini stallions, so they will grow up with a permanent companion they will not fight unless a mare on heat is around and in that situation they can be separated by a fence, now geldings can get erections but as stallion said their sex drive is lost but they are still fun if you have no stallion to play with.

Hey horselove878, how's it going. First, I would only suggest that the two of you purchase a horse if both of you will really enjoy taking care of it. Horses do require lots of care and time. If you have enough land, that will carry some of the cost of your feeding expense. It is a whole big picture. I don't want to discourage you from getting your own horse, becuase I believe that you would get more sexual pleasure from having sex with a horse that you've sacrificed and cared for. You will have a bond with him.Last, horses do get lonely and are much happier with other horses. You have a choice of either purchasing two lower cost pony stallions that are young, or or if they are not youg, purchasing one stud and one mare.It takes time to learn so much about horses. There is much to know.

Some good points have been made here, but it cant be emphasized enoughlearn as much as you can about the animal you intend to keep and makesure that you can afford to take care of him, as stallion says animalsin general are expensive and a horse particularly so.
