Hi all! I was wondering if any of you had seen the Documentary 'zoo'. I think it was at the sundance fest in 2005(?). I have not seen it, but i heard it was excelent, and I was wondering what you 'zoos' had to say about it.Do you think it might help open people's mind to the subject, or at least better educate people? Was it more of a documentary, or a telling of a story through re-enactment? Any other opinions you might wanna add on, feel free.If anyone could direct me somewhere where i can watch the film with decent quality, i would be forever in your debt.~peace Afterthought: I did a search, and didn't find any topics even closely devoted to this film, but if it is a repeat close it.

"Excellent" is a relative term. To be honest I got the DVD. I do not feel it generates any sympathy for our lifestyle. If fact, the way the whole thing was shot has a very high creepy factor to it. Which I am sure will make most undecided non zoos take a dim view of us and what we do. So my suggestion is watch it, and decide for yourself. But be prepared to be disappointed.

I saw it once, but I might watch it again in the distant future to verify my opinion. Personally I didn't like it since the entire film was shrouded in a very dark, negative atmosphere. The only redeeming part was one comment at the very end about someone who wanted to understand more about zoophilia. This isn't something I would immediately refer a neutral person to. I'd probably rank Zoo at the bottom of the list because it doesn't really educate about anything. To me, it mostly comes off as an attempt by the producer to gain film-making credibility by portraying a taboo subject as mysterious and artful.

Did quite a bit more harm than good-- The enormous amount of publicity the film generated, and the unfortunate incident it publicized, brought a landslide of new, punitive laws in an area that used to be more a private matter. Could have done without the "help", mister Arty Producer....... PS: Some folks won't take it well if the discussion disses Mr. Hands-- suggest not going there.....

The music also set kind of a weird atmosphere to tell you the truth. Just keep it highly respectful people.

I have not seen the movie myself, but the little I have heard from other people about it was more confusing than informative. Their interpretation of the film was "they" are a very secretive and do weird things too animals in the guise of affection.

I can't seem to edit my earlier post, but where i said zoo's might have mixed reactions, i meant non-zoo's.

I have seen it and have it on DVD. I personally was not terribly impressed with it. It seemed to have way too much artsy stuff and not enough documentary stuff. Being that I know a few of the people who were involved in this incident, I don't feel it covered what actually happened very well. I really wish it didn't have the artsy feel to it, because if they made it more like a documentary it probably would of been much easier to watch.IMO its worth a watch if you have an hour or so to kill, but other than that your not missing much.

Well, it is a sundance film-festival movie, so what can yah expect? I'm still trying to download that movie, but it is going incredibly slow, and if anyone knows a site where i can watch it youtube style, a link would be much appreciated.

I have not seen the film, but it sound interesting. in my humble opinion, people will fall into three [SPAM], those who would neverrr do it, those that do do it, and a small group of people who are thinking about doing it but are unsure. These are the people the the film can influence. the way the film portrays us zoos wil influence the "unsure" group to either try it or scare them away.
