Hello again folks.OK, I think this should be a fun topic thread, and all animals can be included. So, the question is, has your animal partner or an animal that you've gotten to know really well, ever truly surprised you with something that it's done? The surprise might be based on something really intelligent that the animal has figured out, or, perhaps the surprise may be from a real loving gesture toward you, a way of showing its love for you that you didn't expect. Or perhaps you were just surprised that your animal figured out how to do something that most animals can't seem to do. Or, and this is another aspect of animal's personalities that is really interesting because until very recently, scientists insisted that we humans were the only animals that possess a sense of humor but they're having to rethink that now. So, what has your animal done that's surprised you because it was showing you its sense of humor? Anyone that is an animal lover does know this. Animals are much more tuned in, and completely aware of their surroundings than most people give them credit for, and sometimes they show you that awareness in amazing and remarkable ways. I'm sure there will probably be a lot of dog and cat stories, but I would also expect many horse and pig stories because of their intelligence. There are so many ways that animals can surprise us, that we should get a wide variety of stories here which should make for a fascinating thread.Shy

Never been really surprised by an animal. But then again, I think dogs are smarter creatures than we humans give them credit for.

I found out the hard way to never get down on my hands and knees looking in cupboards without any knickers on. I think I still have the scar on top of my head from hitting the edge of the door as he did what what nature intended when he found a bitch in heat.

Well St Benard, it certainly must have been a big surprise if not necessarily a nice one!

Oh... many, many times. My wolf enclosure is divided and gated, and I've got a drop-down tab to block the slider. It took the wolves about... dunno, two days to figure out how to flip up the tab and knock loose the slider. Now I chain it. Then they figured out how to push the fence away from the post and worm through the gap, and kept breaking the wires I bound the fence to the post with until I got desperate and used some 4-guage copper utility wire. The white wolf bitch, who died this past month, jumped up onto the dog house one day and shoved her rump in my face... that was a pleasant surprise. My male GSD learned that for a free BJ all he has to do is stand over my head when I lay down for bed. Quite convenient... ;DToday my GSD male figured out that plate glass breaks. That was not a pleasant surprise. Luckily I returned to the house a few minutes later and rushed him off to the vet to have his paw stitched up.

heh. well, about 5 years back the family had a couple samoyeds. Awesome dogs in my opinion. We had a male and female, originally going to breed them. But for one reason or another, it just didn't work out. Got one pup that died several weeks after birth. Didn't know why exactly though. The female was a sweet girl though and very much enjoyed it when I had my way with her. hehe. But she was a very very smart one, unlike the male we had. hehe. He was a complete brickhead. We had a kennel that has a 6 or 7' tall chainlink fencing around it. And there were times where we would come home and the female would be out, but not the male. We couldn't figure out why until a long time later when I actually saw her climbing the freakin' chainlink fence and end up jumping out of it. Have you ever seen a dog climb a chainlink fence?? I never have. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself! Hehe.

And I hear often of some incredible feats of intelligence from them .2) You lucky dog, getting she-wolf butt in your face. 2a) Bittersweet, however, that she passed away. 3) Hope your Shepherd is okay; you can guarantee he won't be doing that again.

Whenever you live close to an animal for long time you get surprized, outsmarted and sometimes even bedazzled by their smarts...some examples:1, a female cat I had (deaf from birth) learned that if I pointed a specific window where she stayed, I would open it for her, the male cat didn't figured that out, he had example #2 to get inside:2 the male cat from above learned he could physically push the door open, first he'd lay on his side and use his front paws to hold the door frame, and use head and hind legs to push it open!3 A weimaraner bitch we had, used the car's wheels to break bones open instead of bitting them out (no matter what they say, this is tool use by a K9 to me!)4 my avatar (or at least the guy who gave the picture for it) has figured how to open 3 different types of door, a handle aluminum/glass door, a hook lock and a slide type door). allso he is sure to try alternative routes into the house (like out one door to an empty lot, out to the street and then call from outside)5 the same guy from above is fond on tricking my lover to get the tasty food for himself (like dropping noisily a cookie so the other goes to eat it), or giving the impression he is intrested on something else... (he is a dog genius!)6 the daughter of the cat couple from the first examples came to command my home (as in making me to stand up at 3:00 AM to feed her and know what she wanted to eat), and developing a mixture of body and verbal language good enough for both to use.7 my loverboy has showed me affection in more and deeper ways than I thought existed, such as behaving in special ways whenever I feel sad which are totally different to those when I am happy or neutral, he is as much a support as my avatar boy is a teacher for smarts.

QUOTE (cstek @ Mar 19 2008, 01:12 PM) well yea, by initiating the act. Same. I'll never forget the first night I was in bed, just reading a book...and she climbed on top of me. I was surprised...but it was a good surprise. She also startled me a few times by waiting until I was asleep (or nearly so), and poking me with her cold nose. The time we had sex outside (told in my second BF story) was probably the funniest; I was sunbathing and she caused me to tumble out of my beach lounger, lol.

First K9 experience was a surprise, I had been jacking off to a porn with a hairbrush up my ass, and after cumming, pulled out the hairbrush and began crawling to the VCR (long ago, before remotes even), my lab/pit mix saw me in the appropriate position, smelled sex, and mounted up. I was so shocked I didn't do anything at first, then by the time I knew he was in me, it was too late, he wasn't gonna let me go. He knotted me, and we stayed tied for 20-30 min. I was scared shit-less as I didn't know when my parents were coming home, and didn't think I'd survive getting caught like that. It ended well, as we began a regular relationship until his death 10 years ago. He was a wonderful friend, and lover. Liambackdoor

This one dog I knew liked licking my balls and I would jerk him, he really got into it. Then he associated the two and would start humping just from licking my balls, but what really surprised me is one day he started licking some other dogs balls and he started humping the air.......this probably means dogs can distinguish body parts between species so when they lick you down there.....they know whats going on
