You want a dog that will fit in with your entire life, not just your sex life.
Well I think we all know the REAL answer. Its Akitas and G Sheps, accept no substitutions.

Of course they'll also need a large enough living area in which to romp around in. Bigger breeds seem to me be more laid back and a lot less active. They also tend to tire more easily.

Bigger breeds seem to me be more laid back and a lot less active. They also tend to tire more easily. I have a Great Dane and got him when he was 4 months old. We 1st had sex when he was 1 yr old and he is a beautiful lover. I also am getting a Setter as they are gentle lovers. If you want big then the Dane is for you. They last a long time and a one person dog. The setter I am getting is about 8-9. My Dane is spoiled and very loveing.
I would lean more toward what Silky had to say...it's hard to pick any particular breed as to what is best, because a lot depends on the individual. As Buffy said, Setter's are gentle lovers...well, I've met a Setter in the past that wouldn't exactly fit that description. Much has to do on the dog, how it was raised, the situation it is in, and the age and experience of the dog. I would say best thing is to pick a breed you love, that suits your lifestyle and that you love other than wanting to be "mated" with it.
Everyone has thier own preferences and favorites..but you have to pick one that fits your lifestyle and temperament that matches yours.Do you have kids? young children? time to go for walks daily? would those be 1 hr+ runs or a leisurely 30 min walk? Obviously the bigger the dog the bigger -mostly- the penis.
I tend to agree wth silkythighs buffy and itzvolf. But as itzvolf said not all setters are gentle, A. they are very good lickers and when they bury the bone you know that they are in charge and he is there to stay. Try looking around the local kennels for something that you feel comfortable with, and will it fit your life style.
Remember the dog is more then a lover if you can't commit to taking care of this pet for it's lifetime ,including the vet visits ,the food costs the licenses and the heartaches when they are ill. Then look for a friend who may oblige you with trying their pet before buying ..because not every dog regardless of what breed you choose becomes a good lover .. so you may be stuck with a dog who is just your dog ..Good luck in what you choose. I have a wonderful mini schnauser that loves licking and a great dane who is the biggest baby in more then one way ..
